Camp Pathways
Children often feel very alone with their grief. Sensitivity about being viewed as "different" from peers can prevent them from feeling comfortable in expressing feelings to their friends. It may be difficult for them to discuss the sadness they feel with family members who are experiencing their own sense of loss.
Camp Pathways is designed to provide children with a safe place to express their feelings and experience the support they need. Professional grief counselors and trained volunteers supervise activities that are fun, safe and effective in addressing the grief-related concerns and feelings children.
The camp experience offers grieving children opportunities for sharing, support and learning in a retreat atmosphere. Supervised outdoor activities play a central role in camp programs that are age appropriate and may include
- Campfires
- Arts and Crafts
- Grief Support Group Activities
- Canoeing
- Fishing
- Swimming
- Music
- Talent Show
- Climbing Wall
- Memorial Service
